In principle yes – that is the great advantage of the ISOBUS standard. An ISOBUS fertiliser spreader from Amazone can be operated through a John Deere tractor terminal and vice versa. In practice, there can be compatibility issues with older implements or certain special functions. Look for AEF certification (Agricultural Electronics Foundation), which confirms tested compatibility.

Can ISOBUS be retrofitted on a tractor?

Yes, an ISOBUS retrofit is possible on many tractors. There are retrofit kits from various manufacturers that install an ISOBUS connector and job computer interface on the tractor. Costs range from 1,500 to 4,000 euros. A suitable operating terminal in the cab is a prerequisite. For older tractors without CAN bus, the retrofit may be more involved.
